The Story Behind Revival Coffee & One Hope Church
How It Started
Every good coffee shop has a story. Ours starts with Sunday mornings.
At One Hope Church in Richardson, TX, people would gather early — before the 10:30 AM service, and often long after it ended. The coffee was simple, but something about those moments felt special. Conversations happened over paper cups that wouldn't happen anywhere else. Strangers became friends. Neighbors became community.
We started asking: what if this didn't have to be just a Sunday thing?
Why "Revival"?
We chose the name Revival because it captures what this space represents — a revival of real, face-to-face connection in a world that's increasingly disconnected. Not revival in the old-fashioned tent-meeting sense, but revival in the everyday sense: bringing something good back to life.
For us, that's the experience of sitting across from someone with a good cup of coffee and nowhere else to be. That's community. That's what we're reviving.
The One Hope Connection
Revival Coffee shares its building with One Hope Church at 1251 S. Sherman St. in Richardson. One Hope has been serving the DFW community since 2013 under the leadership of Lead Pastors Derek and Jen Miller. The church's mission — helping people discover belonging and purpose — naturally extends into what Revival Coffee is all about.
But here's what matters: Revival Coffee is for everyone.
You don't need to attend One Hope Church. You don't need to believe anything in particular. You don't even need to know what One Hope is. If you like great coffee, real food, and friendly people, you belong here. Period.
The church connection isn't a sales pitch — it's just our origin story. It's why community is in our DNA, not just on our wall.
What Makes Revival Coffee Different
Richardson has an incredible coffee scene — we wrote a whole guide to the best coffee shops in Richardson. So why add another one?
Because we saw a gap:
- Coffee + food together. Most Richardson coffee shops focus on drinks only. We serve real breakfast and lunch alongside specialty coffee.
- Genuine community. A lot of places use "community" as a marketing word. For us, it's literally where we came from — Sunday morning conversations that turned into something bigger.
- No pretension. Some specialty coffee shops can feel intimidating if you don't know your pour-over from your flat white. At Revival, every question is a good question, and every order is the right order.
- A space that welcomes everyone. Students, families, remote workers, church members, neighbors — everyone has a seat here.
What We Believe About Coffee Shops
We believe a great coffee shop is a third place — not home, not work, but somewhere in between where life happens. Where you run into your neighbor. Where you overhear a conversation that makes you think. Where the barista knows your name and your order.
Richardson deserves more of those places. That's why Revival Coffee exists.
