Search "coffee shops near UTD" and you mostly get citywide Richardson lists with a campus word attached. That's not much help when you have forty minutes between classes and no idea whether the nearest option is a two-minute drive or a two-mile one.

So this guide is organized by distance from campus, and it's honest about which is which. Revival Coffee is one of Richardson's coffee shops, but we're on the other side of town from UT Dallas — we'll tell you exactly where we fit and where we don't.

Where Campus Sits in the Coffee Map

UT Dallas is at 800 W Campbell Rd, on the west side of Richardson. Most of this city's coffee density is on the other side: the CORE District, east toward US-75, packs seven-plus coffee houses inside a quarter-mile.

That geography is the whole problem with campus-area coffee. Genuinely close options are a short list. A few minutes east on Campbell Road opens up almost everything else — which is fine if you have a car and an hour, and useless if you have a gap between a lecture and a lab.

Hours at independent shops change, especially around holidays and semester breaks. Confirm before you build a study plan around one.

Closest to Campus: On Campbell Road

La La Land Kind Cafe (242 W Campbell Rd) is the nearest specialty option worth the trip — same street as the campus address, closer in toward US-75. It's a mission-driven shop with colorful decor and a reputation for cheerful, friendly service, and it has the most useful hours of anything on this side of Richardson: 6:30 AM to 8 PM Tuesday through Saturday, 8 AM to 8 PM Monday, and 6:30 AM to 7 PM Sunday.

For a student schedule that's the important part. It's open before an 8 AM class and still open after an evening one, which is rare in Richardson — most of the city's coffee closes in the afternoon.

A Few Minutes Out

• Communion Neighborhood Cooperative (514 Lockwood Dr) — A coffee shop with a dedicated coworking space attached, plus locally roasted coffee, an allergy-friendly kitchen, and an events venue. Open 6 AM to 8 PM Tuesday through Friday, 8 AM to 8 PM Monday, 7 AM to 8 PM Saturday, and 7 AM to 3 PM Sunday. The best pick on this list for a session that runs past two hours.
• Cafe Brazil (2071 N Central Expy) — Open 24 hours, with unlimited coffee refills and a full breakfast menu. It isn't specialty coffee and it isn't trying to be. It's the answer at 2 AM in finals week, which is a category with exactly one entrant.
• Civil Pour Coffee & Craft Beer (800 N Coit Rd, Ste 2550) — Specialty coffee and a 25-tap craft beer list in the same room, with panini sandwiches and pastries from local bakeries. Open until 9 PM Monday through Saturday and 8 PM Sunday. The one where a study session can turn into something else without changing venues.

Worth the Drive East

If you're already heading toward US-75, the rest of Richardson's coffee scene opens up:

• 7th Day Coffee (743 Brick Row, Ste 350) — Serious specialty focus, house-made syrups, a good room for getting work done. Monday through Saturday, 7 AM to 5 PM, closed Sundays.
• Eiland Coffee Roasters (532 N Interurban St) — Roasting happens on site, with a single-origin selection to match. The pick if you've started caring about where the beans came from.
• Magic Cup (901 N Jupiter Rd, #150) — Daily, 10 AM to 10 PM. Livelier, flavor-forward, and open later than almost anything else in the city.
• Revival Coffee (1251 S. Sherman St. Ste. 112) — Us. Weekdays 7 AM to 3 PM, with free WiFi, on-site parking, and a full breakfast-and-lunch menu. More on where we fit below.

Picking by What You Actually Need

The distance question matters less than the schedule question. Sort by what the coffee has to do:

• A short gap between classes. Closest wins, and order drip or cold brew rather than an espresso drink — they're poured, not built, so they come out faster. Say "to go" when you order.

• Late night, especially finals week. Cafe Brazil is open 24 hours. Magic Cup runs to 10 PM daily and Civil Pour to 9 PM Monday through Saturday. Everything else in Richardson, including us, is closed.
• Before an early class. Communion opens at 6 AM Tuesday through Friday and La La Land at 6:30 AM most days. We open at 7 AM on weekdays, as do several others.
• Parents in town, or you want an actual meal. Look for a real kitchen rather than a pastry case. Civil Pour, Cafe Brazil, and Revival all serve food you can make a meal out of.
• A student org meeting or a campus event. That's a catering question rather than a coffee-run question — we do coffee catering and student org gatherings and we're a short drive from campus.

Where Revival Fits

We'll be straight about this, because "near UTD" is a proximity claim and we'd rather not stretch one.

We're not the closest shop to campus. We're at 1251 S. Sherman St. Ste. 112, on the east side of Richardson near the Spring Valley DART station and minutes off US-75. That's a short drive from UT Dallas, not a walk, and if you have fifteen minutes between classes we are not your move. La La Land is closer, and we'd rather tell you that than pretend otherwise.

We're good for the morning and the middle of the day. We open at 7 AM Monday through Friday and close at 3 PM. There's free WiFi, on-site parking so you're not circling for a space, and seating that works for one person with a laptop or a few people around a table. We also serve real food — breakfast sandwiches, avocado feta toast, yogurt parfaits, overnight oats, pastries, plus sandwiches and wraps later in the day — which matters when you've been on campus since eight. We're not an evening option. Closing at 3 PM means we're dark well before a night class lets out. That's what Cafe Brazil, Magic Cup, and Civil Pour are for.

The honest case for driving east: it's a quieter room than the shops that catch campus traffic, there's parking, there's a real lunch, and nobody is going to hover over your table. We share a building with One Hope Church, which is where this coffee shop came from — the whole point of the place is that people are allowed to stay a while.
